Before the half term break, A level German students took part in an exchange trip to Lübeck, where they attended the Katharineum school. Being fully immersed in the language provided them with a valuable opportunity to enhance their listening skills.
The local students led us on a fascinating tour of the town, which allowed for a better understanding of the area and a chance to admire the widespread medieval architecture. The group visited Hamburg where they could indulge in some of the best Döner in Germany as well as Turkish churros and the local pastry called Franzbrötchen. The group also visited the former prison in Schwerin and travelled to Schlagsdorf, located on the former East German border. They found the talk on life in the GDR, attempted escapes, and imprisonment particularly engaging.
